This Boho Maternity Session on Boca Grande Beach gives me all the feels. This sweet momma is a dear friend of mine and I am so thankful to have her in my life. And totally honored to capture these special moments in her and her husband’s life.
So let me tell you about their story. Ashley and Nathan got married in November of 2013 and tried to grow their family about a year later. After trying to get pregnant for over a year, they started to wonder why it wasn’t happening. They were both young and healthy people.
After seeking medical examinations and advice, they were told that it would be very hard, if not impossible for Ashley to conceive.
These two people have strong faith in a powerful God, and didn’t give up hope. After continuous support and prayer from family and friends for almost another year, they were starting to think about other options. And for them, adoption was really the only other option they personally felt right about.
They knew they wanted a child to love and raise. If they weren’t able to grow a baby in love, then they would choose to grow love in their hearts for a child that God chose to bless them with. So, they began the adoption journey.
I can’t imagine the many nights that they struggled with trying to find a peace as to why they couldn’t conceive and then the let down of almost being matched several times with potential babies, only to be heartbroken when the birth mother chose a different couple to adopt her child.
Ashley has been a close friend of mine for years. I have been there though their journey, and never gave up hope for them to have a child to call their own.
I remember when she told me they were possibly going to be matched with a baby. It was the summer of 2017. It was in God’s hands at this point. And then it became final. She was theirs. They named her Cora. How special a blessing to give a child in need a home and have a baby to love and raise.
In September of 2017, a few days before Hurricane Irma was going to hit our area in Florida, I went to see her and Cora to check on them, and Ashley told me she had some great news to share with me. The first words out of my mouth were, “You’re Pregnant?” Her face confirmed my words. I don’t think either one of us could have been more excited.
I seriously couldn’t have been happier for her and Nathan and their growing family. Soon they would have two little girls running around together. Sisters. How perfect this next chapter would be.
Details about this Boho Maternity Session on Boca Grande Beach. Ashley, Cora and I got together to shoot her maternity session. Just the girls. It was going to be relaxing and beautiful. The vision I had for the session was a bit of a boho feel, with fresh florals, muted and neutral colors to mesh with the gorgeous coastline of the beach. I incorporated hand made matching fresh floral crowns for momma and baby to wear. I really wanted to focus on the relationship of momma and baby, before little sister arrives..
We shot during the dreamy golden hour and into the dark when the sun was long gone. Ending the session with some sweet and tender moments between baby Cora and momma Ashley as the night fell upon us.
This would be some of the last moments that Cora would be an only child, and in just a few short weeks her baby sister, Sage would be joining her along this journey of life. Such an amazing story of God’s promise to fulfill the desires of the hearts of those who love him.
